American Red Cross - Superficial phlebitis caused by unsuccessful blood draw
My 17 year old tried to donate at her high school on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. Today, four days later, I am ticked that we just spent four hours with doctors and radiologists.
My daughter was treated rudely by the incompetent staff. 1st arm was unsuccessful. A different employee tried the second arm, she jabbed and dug then told her she wasnโt a good candidate for blood donation. This is completely untrue.
We have never had a problem with her veins before. Pain from the second location spread down her vein. This morning, the pain had spread all the way down to her wrist. No fever, but lots of pain at the now enlarged vein.
Strangely, no bruising. All the trauma was done on the inside. Doctor sent us to ER to get ultrasound. Diagnosis was superficial phlebitis.
Ibuprofen and heat is recommended. I am done supporting the incompetence of the Red Cross.
Itโs not worth my health or the health of my family. Iโm done.
Reason of review: Poor customer service.
